This is not the first time that the RCB cricketers are wearing the green jersey. The franchise had started the tradition in 2011 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium as part of their 'Go Green' initiative, aiming to promote awareness about keeping the earth clean and green.
Taking to Twitter, RCB wrote: “From Red to Green, our boys are ready to #PlayBold for a cause. How do you like our Green jersey, 12th Man Army?”
The franchise further tweeted: “It’s time for our Go Green Game, 12th Man Army, and we couldn’t be more excited! Are you ready to #GoGreen and cheer for #RCB as we take on #SRH this Sunday at 3:30 PM IST?”
“The 'Go Green' sustainability initiative has been a huge part of our RCB culture since 2011. Over the years, we have seen RCB sport the green jersey in a day game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium to create awareness around a greener and more sustainable planet earth. Continuing the ‘Go Green’ cause that we truly believe in, RCB will be wearing the green match kit on 8th of May when we take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad,” former RCB skipper Virat Kohli said in a video posted by the franchise on Twitter.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently occupying the fourth spot on the IPL 2022 points table and they are one of the top contenders for a playoff spot.
The Faf du Plessis led side has played 11 matches in the competition so far, winning 6 games and losing 5 to claim 12 points in total.
