IPL 2022: Cricket fraternity reacts as Ravindra Jadeja hands over CSK captaincy back to MS Dhoni

Dhoni had stepped down as captain two days ahead of the IPL 2022 season.

MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja | BCCI/IPLRavindra Jadeja on Saturday (April 30) relinquished Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) captaincy, handing it back to MS Dhoni, the franchise confirmed in a statement.

Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game. The veteran wicketkeeper has led Chennai to four IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021.

However, ahead of the 2022 edition, the 40-year-old decided to step down, passing the leadership baton to Jadeja.

The move didn’t work out well for CSK as the defending champions struggled badly in the ongoing IPL season. They are currently occupying the 9th spot on the points table with just two wins out of 8 matches.

The captaincy has also affected Jadeja’s performance as the all-rounder has scored just 112 runs and picked 5 wickets in the tournament so far.

After CSK's announcement, the cricketing fraternity took to Twitter and expressed their thoughts on Dhoni's return as skipper.
