Virat Kohli finally went past the 50-run mark in the ongoing IPL 2022 when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clashed with Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 30, 2022 in the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bat first. However, he was dismissed for a duck by Pradeep Sangwan and then Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar added 99 runs for the second wicket, as Patidar made 52 in 32 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Virat Kohli reached the fifty-run mark off 45 balls with 6 fours and 1 six and was dismissed for 58 in 53 balls.
RCB, in the end, thanks to some quick-fire contributions from Glenn Maxwell (33 in 18 balls) and Mahipal Lomror (16* in 8 balls) posted 170/6 in 20 overs. Pradeep Sangwan, who made his debut for GT was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/19.
Meanwhile, as Virat Kohli completed his half-century, his first in this IPL 2022, he looked towards the skies to say thanks to the god and also gestured with his hand while remembering his father. Also his wife Anushka Sharma was seated in the stands and cheered for him as he reached the milestone.
