The 44th match of the IPL 2022 will see Rajasthan Royals (RR) taking on the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This will be the second meeting between these two teams and RR hold the upper hand as they had defeated MI by 23 runs in their previous meeting.
RR are placed in the top half of the IPL 2022 points table with 6 wins from 8 matches, while MI are having their worst Indian Premier League outings as they have lost all of the 8 matches they have played thus far.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS
RR are having one of their best outings in the IPL 2022 and though much of it has to be attributed to the stupendous batting of Jos Buttler, who leads the Orange Cap race with the most runs at the moment and has scored 3 centuries thus far; in their last outing against RCB, RR showed that they could defend a small total as well.

Sanju Samson, Devdutt Padikkal, and Shimron Hetmyer have done extremely well with the bat, and even Riyan Parag came through finally. However, they are still searching for that foreign all-rounder despite trying James Neesham and Daryl Mitchell at that spot.
The strongest suit for RR this season has been their amazing spin bowling with Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin leading the way. The pace department has also been excellent with Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna leading the way, and Kuldeep Sen adding the spice of extreme pace.
MUMBAI INDIANS
Mumbai Indians just cannot seem to find a way to win a match in IPL 2022 and have lost 8 in a row. Their batting apart from Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma has not clicked, with Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan faring poorly.
Dewald Brevis is yet to crack the code and make a significant score and it might be expected that MI go back to their INR 8 cr investment Tim David and give him a longer run. Kieron Pollard has also failed to come good for them, though has had some performances here and there.

MI has tried every trick in the book and every combination possible in the bowling department and other than one or two decent performances, no one has found consistency, not even Jasprit Bumrah has been able to find some support or make things happen single-handedly.
Its up to Jaydev Unadkat, and others to step up and support him. It may very well be that Arjun Tendulkar make his debut for MI sooner than later.
