Punjab Kings (PBSK) captain Mayank Agarwal has expressed disappointment in his team’s dismal batting performance against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after they suffered a 20-run defeat in the 42nd match of the ongoing IPL 2022 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

On Friday, April 29, defending 153 runs, Mohsin Khan bagged three wickets, and Dushmantha Chameera and Krunal Pandya each snared two scalps each, as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) restricted Punjab Kings (PBKS) to 133/8 in 20 overs to win the match by 20 runs.

For PBKS, Jonny Bairstow was the top-scorer with 32 runs, while Kagiso Rabada snared four wickets for the franchise against the LSG on Friday at the MCA Stadium in Pune.

Mayank Agarwal said in a post-match presentation: “I think we just kept losing wickets. We had batsmen who were set and we kept getting out. So many soft dismissals for us. It is disappointing and we have to face the truth. We didn't bat well enough and we were below par with the bat.”

The skipper added, “The new ball was doing a bit, seaming around and there was some bounce, it was a crucial period and after that, it did get better to bat on.”

He signed off by praising his bowlers, “We are bowling exceedingly well and doing a lot of right things as a bowling unit. Arshdeep has stepped up, Rahul got wickets, and KG being the big guy is always stepping up and getting us important wickets.”
