Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Chetan Sakariya on Thursday (28th April) talked about his celebration after taking the wicket of Aaron Finch against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Match 41 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
After missing the first seven matches for his side, Sakariya finally got his opportunity against KKR. The left-arm seamer didn’t disappoint and returned with impressive figures of 1/17 in the three overs he bowled.
He uprooted the stumps of Finch in the very first over he bowled, jolting KKR with an early blow. After taking his wicket, the 24-year-old came up with a unique celebration that caught the attention of almost everyone.

Sakariya first crossed his arms in front and then put two of his fingers on his forehead. The celebration was similar to Dragon Ball Z cartoon character Goku.
Speaking to Kuldeep Yadav in a video posted on IPL’s official Instagram channel, Chetan Sakariya said that it was an emotional celebration for his father, who always wanted him to clean up the international batter. He added that he felt like communicating with his late father and telling him that he achieved what he wanted.
“It was an emotional celebration and it was for my father. He always wished for me to dismiss an international batter bowled. If I used to pick wickets through some other ways like caught, he used to tell me to dislodge the stumps. It was as if I was communicating with my father and telling him that I achieved it," Chetan Sakariya said.
Notably, Chetan Sakariya lost his father last year due to COVID-19. He was part of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise in the IPL 2021 and he transferred a part of the money that he earned for his father’s treatment. He was acquired by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 auction for INR 4.20 crores.
