Shikhar Dhawan was dubbed as 'T20 Ka Khalifa,' by former India batsman Mohammad Kaif, based on his performances in the ongoing IPL 2022 for the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
In the ongoing IPL 2022, Shikhar Dhawan has been a constant performer. He is now ranked third in the Orange Cap list with 302 runs from eight innings and a top score of 88 not out, so he's done rather well. His average of 43.14 and strike rate of 132.45 aren't the best, but he's been instrumental in PBKS' victories.
Not only this, but Mohammad Kaif tweeted that Dhawan should be part of the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Dhawan had recently completed 6000 runs in IPL and 9000 runs in T20 cricket.
"Dhoni Thala hai, Kohli King hain aur Shikhar? 6000 IPL runs, delivering under pressure, he is T20 ka Khalifa. He should play T20 World Cup. Don't ask me where, if I was selector, I would tell you," Mohammed Kaif tweeted.
Dhawan will be seen in action when PBKS faces off against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 29 in Pune.
