IPL 2022: Wasim Jaffer takes hilarious dig at Rishi Dhawan's glasses after Ambati Rayudu's blitz

Rishi Dhawan played in the IPL for the first time since 2016.

Rishi Dhawan, returning to the IPL fold for the first time since the 2016 edition, put on a strong performance for the Punjab Kings side in their recent match against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022.

But it was his protective glasses that drew the most attention, and Punjab Kings’ all-rounder quickly became a topic of conversation on social media.

The batting of Chennai Super Kings' batter Ambati Rayudu, on the other hand, thrilled the crowd despite CSK losing the match by 11 runs in the end. The experienced batter hit 78 off just 39 deliveries.

While there was no link between Rayudu's bat heroics and Rishi's glasses, Wasim Jaffer, the social media king, found a way to link the two.

What Jaffer was pointing towards was when Rayudu was dropped from Team India's ODI World Cup 2019 squad in favor of Vijay Shankar, who provided '3D talents' as per then BCCI selector MSK Prasad.

Rayudu had even joked about getting his '3D glasses out' at one point after his exclusion from the India squad and had even announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket.

Jaffer brilliantly related the two issues, reminding fans of that event. In terms of the injury, Rishi was wearing protective eyewear due to an injury he sustained during this year's Ranji Trophy campaign.

In his tweetJaffer wrote: “Rayudu batting even more aggressively tonight. Rishi Dhawan's glasses may have reminded him of something.”
