Ravindra Jadeja may not have had the best start to his captaincy tenure with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2022, but he has received overwhelming backing from his teammates.

One of his CSK teammates, Ambati Rayudu, even endorsed Jadeja for the ultimate post of Indian cricket captain.

Rayudu believes that as long as Dhoni is there, Jadeja would learn quickly and improve day by day.

"Filling in MS Dhoni's shoes, it's never going to happen. But Jaddu definitely has it in him and under the guidance of Mahi bhai and till the time he's around on the ground with him it will be very easy for him. Jadeja will become better. He has it in him to not only lead CSK but also India one day" he said in a conversation on CSK's YouTube channel.

Rayudu also mentioned that CSK is going through a transitional period, with a number of young players being promoted under Jadeja's leadership, and that the team is on the right track.

"There is the shift and it has to come. A lot of youngsters will continue to feature in CSK as the years go by. Having a young captain like Jadeja who has done it and seen it all, it will be great for them to be under him and have his confidence. They have the backing of the captain and I think he is going in the right direction and even the team is. CSK will be very, very successful under him," he added.

CSK has won just two of their seven games so far, and they currently sit ninth in the points table, one point ahead of the wineless Mumbai Indians. On Monday, they will face Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in their eighth game of the IPL 2022 season.
