Umran Malik has impressed one and all with his pace.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have made a stunning comeback in the ongoing IPL 2022, having recorded five straight wins in their seven outings so far in the tournament, and the young pace sensation Umran Malik is one of the biggest game-changers for the franchise.

India's new speed gun has been breathing fire in the ongoing IPL 2022, and the pacer has already bowled the fastest-ever delivery bowled by an Indian in the history of the IPL, which clocked at 153.3 kmph against Gujarat Titans.

He also bowled the second-fastest ball of the ongoing IPL 15, clocking a speed of 152.95 kph against Gujarat Titans.

Umran’s fiery pace makes the opposition batters on their toes with the young speedster not allowing them to score many runs during his spell. That’s something he did again against the RCB on April 23, as the Jammu and Kashmir bowler conceded only 13 runs while taking a wicket in his 4 overs.

After SRH defeated RCB by 9 wickets on Saturday, West Indies' great Brian Lara, who is part of the SRH support staff, compared Malik to Fidel Edwards, his former West Indies teammate, who was also one of the fastest bowlers at his peak.

Lara said on Star Sports: “He reminds me of my playing time. During my career, all the greats of the West Indian team were playing. Sir Malcolm Marshall, Courtney Walsh, Curtly Ambrose…different types of bowlers. But he reminds me a lot of Fidel Edwards when he first started - a lot of pace, and I hope he understands that if he goes into international cricket, which I think he will, a lot of batsmen are not that scared of pace. So, I hope he adds a little bit more to his armory.”

He concluded, “But he is a quick learner. He is willing to learn. If you look at him in the nets, he is always asking different questions. It is awesome to see India have a pacer of that caliber.”
