IPL 2022: DC head coach Ricky Ponting to miss RR clash after family member tests positive

DC camp has been rocked by COVID-19 since the past week.

Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting goes into quarantine

Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Ricky Ponting has gone into quarantine after a family member tested positive for COVID-19. He will not be traveling with the team to the Wankhede Stadium for their clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) later tonight.

As per a report by The Indian Express, the Australian was isolated from rest of the squad after a family member staying with him in the team hotel tested positive for the virus. The entire DC camp – including players, support staff and family members underwent Rapid Antigen Test on Thursday and Friday.

Ponting tested negative but due to close proximity to his family member, resulted in him going into a five-day quarantine. With the head coach unavailable, assistant coaches Shane Watson and Ajit Agarkar, as well as James Hopes and Pravin Amre will take charge of the team for Friday's clash against RR.

Delhi Capitals confirmed the development on their Twitter account with an official statement.

Earlier, Mitchell Marsh and Tim Seifert, as well as four support staff members of Delhi Capitals had tested positive for COVID-19, which had casted a shadow over their previous match against Punjab Kings.
