IPL 2022: Cricket fraternity in awe as MS Dhoni cameo hands MI their seventh loss; CSK wins by 3 wickets

Dhoni made 16 runs off the last 4 balls against Unadkat to hand MI their 7th straight loss in IPL 2022.

Mukesh Choudhary picked 3/19 for CSK | BCCI-IPLThe Mumbai Indians (MI) created an unwanted record as they lost their seventh match in a row as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated them in the 33rd match of the IPL 2022 on April 21 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and chose to bowl first. MI was kept to 155/7 as Mukesh Choudhary picked 3/19 and Dwayne Bravo picked two wickets as well. Tilak Varma top-scored with 51* and Suryakumar Yadav made 32 runs as well.

In reply, Daniel Sams picked 4/30 for MI and at one stage CSK was looking in huge trouble as only Ambati Rayudu made 40 and Robin Uthappa made 30 runs.

In the end, a cameo by Dwaine Pretorius (22 in 14 balls) and MS Dhoni’s 28* in 12 balls with 3 fours and 1 six, enabled CSK to make 17 runs in the final over to win the match by 2 wickets and earn two points.  

This result meant that MI became the first team in IPL history to lose seven matches at the start of an IPL season and remain at the bottom spot of the points table.

The Cricket fraternity was in awe and lauded MS Dhoni for his special knock, which won CSK a difficult game.
