IPL 2022: Twitterverse explodes after Virat Kohli returned as RCB captain briefly against LSG

Kohli briefly captained the RCB side at the start of LSG innings.

Kohli and Faf du Plessis after RCB beat LSG | BCCI-IPLVirat Kohli had broken many hearts when ahead of the resumption of the second half of the IPL 2021, he had announced that he will be relinquishing the captaincy of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side.

The RCB fans couldn’t believe it as he had been at the helm since 2013 and had taken them to the finals of the tournament in IPL 2016. But it was real and RCB named Faf du Plessis as their new captain after he was bought in the IPL 2022 auction for INR 7 crores.

However, in RCB’s recent match with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), when RCB began their defense of the total, captain Du Plessis didn’t join the team when they came back on the field. He had scored a masterful 96 runs and was probably resting a bit more which was much deserved.

This enabled the RCB fans to see Virat Kohli captaining the side once more albeit for only 1.1 overs and he was seen encouraging the bowlers and setting fields accordingly. Siraj and Maxwell were pumped up with encouragement by Kohli as they bowled the first two overs and when Du Plessis returned, Kohli retreated to his fielding position.

As expected, Kohli captaining sent users on Twitter on a nostalgia trip and fair enough, they couldn't hide their excitement.
