Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) started off in the worst way possible as they lost two early wickets including Virat Kohli for a golden duck in their match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 32nd encounter of the IPL 2022 which is being played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 19, 2022.
LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bowl first. Both LSG and RCB went in unchanged for this important encounter as the top spot in the IPL 2022 points table is on the line.
Though Dushmantha Chameera got hit for a four on the 4th ball of the first over by Anuj Rawat, he got the best revenge as Rawat was dismissed on the next ball, caught by Rahul at mid-off. Much was expected of the next man who walked into bat, Virat Kohli.
Kohli had been in the worse of the forms in this IPL 2022 as his scores read as 12 vs KKR, 5 vs RR, 1 vs CSK, and 12 vs DC and he passed the 20-run mark only twice when he made 41* against PBKS and 48 against MI and was dismissed LBW.
However, today was not to be Kohli’s day as Chameera managed to extract some bounce as he bowled a length ball outside off stump, which Kohli managed to slash straight into the hands of Deepak Hooda at backward point and Kohli had a sheepish smile after he was dismissed as he walked back.
This was Kohli's first golden duck since IPL 2017 and fourth overall in the Indian Premier League history.
