IPL 2022: WATCH – Obed McCoy celebrates maiden IPL wicket with ‘Thaggedhe Le’ step from Pushpa movie

IPL 2022: WATCH – Obed McCoy celebrates maiden IPL wicket with ‘Thaggedhe Le’ step from Pushpa movie

Obed McCoy dismissed Sheldon Jackson to claim his maiden IPL wicket.

Obed McCoy | BCCI/IPLRajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Obed McCoy on Monday (April 18) caught everyone’s attention as he pulled off the signature step of Telugu actor Allu Arjun's movie, Pushpa, to celebrate his maiden IPL wicket.

Playing his IPL debut match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), McCoy claimed his first wicket by removing Sheldon Jackon in the 20th over at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

The pacer was elated after picking his maiden IPL scalp and he celebrated it by doing the famous 'jhukega nahi' step from the movie Pushpa.

Notably, Obed McCoy had to defend 11 runs in the final over and he did with ease, dismissing Jackon and the dangerous Umesh Yadav (21 off 9 balls) to bundle out KKR for 210 in 19.4 overs.

On his IPL debut, the Caribbean cricketer returned with the bowling figures of 2 for 41 in 3.4 overs as RR won the high-scoring thriller by 7 runs.

"I am feeling good, this is my first game since last year, I had come under pressure, feeling good, it was just about getting over the nerves and going hard. I normally back my skills, but I haven't played a lot of cricket, so I backed my skills and went about trying to execute the plans, as in a normal scenario," said Obed McCoy in the post-match presentation.

"I knew the batter would be looking for power, so I wanted to slow it down and wanted them to target the longer part of the ground. He (Shimron Hetmyer) was just telling me to bowl the way I normally bowl and give my best," he added.
