Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar said that he felt fortunate to have seen two magnificent centuries on the date of April 18, after Jos Buttler smashed his second century in the 30th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday.
Notably, Brendon McCullum smashed a breathtaking knock of 158* off just 73 balls to help the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) begin their IPL 2008 journey with a thumping win of 140 runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the very first match of the tournament.
He is currently serving as the KKR head coach in the IPL 2022.
Well, the IPL is celebrating its 15th anniversary on April 18, and Buttler (103) made this even more memorable by hammering a miraculous century to help Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat KKR by 7 runs on the same date.
It was a coincidence that McCullum hit the first century of the IPL for KKR and now Buttler smashed a century against the latter’s team on the same date after 15 years.
Gavaskar said during the mid-innings show Cricket Live on Star Sports: “I just thought it was an amazing, fabulous inning. All I can say is, I have been very fortunate on the 18th of April to see two centuries. One of Baz McCullum and now Jos Buttler.”
Notably, it was Buttler’s second ton in the ongoing IPL 2022, while third IPL century. He is currently the Orange Cap holder with 375 runs in 6 matches for the RR so far in the IPL 15.
