Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Ravichandran Ashwin on Monday (April 18) once again showed why he rated among the best spinners in the world.
Ashwin produced a magical delivery to dismiss Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) swashbuckling batter Andre Russell for a first-ball duck.
Chasing 218 to win, KKR were 148/3 after 13 overs when Russell joined skipper Shreyas Iyer in the middle. Known for his big hitting ability, Russell could have taken the game away from RR but Ashwin cleaned up him with a jaffa in the 14th over.
It was a carrom ball on the middle which spun away, squared Russell up, beat his outside edge and then rattled the stumps. Ashwin was overjoyed after dismissing the dangerous KKR all-rounder cheaply.
