Delhi Capitals (DC) was lent a hard blow as the COVID scare hit their camp in the ongoing IPL 2022. As per sources, an unnamed player had tested positive in the rapid antigen test days after their physio Patrick Farhart tested positive for the virus.
The DC squad then entered quarantine on Monday, postponing their trip to Pune for their next match in the IPL 2022.
However, good news came as Delhi Capitals players tested negative in the first round of RT-PCR tests and the BCCI is sending a medical team to conduct another round of RT-PCR tests for the players and the members of the support staff.
The players will only be allowed to take the field only after negative results in the second RT-PCR test and as of now, there was no change in the schedule of Wednesday's match at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
Patrick Farhart's positive test was the first case of Covid-19 in IPL 2022. The BCCI had come up with bio-bubble arrangements and picked only Mumbai and Pune as the two host cities for the new 10-team season in a bid to avoid air travel.
This was to avoid a scenario like IPL 2021 when four cities hosted the tournament which had to be suspended in May after Covid-19 cases emerged in the bio-bubbles in Ahmedabad and Delhi. The remainder of the season was completed in UAE later on.
