Sunrises Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Sunday (17th April) gave a hilarious reply when asked how Umran Malik’s pace is helping him in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Umran Malik has impressed many with his bowling in the IPL 2022 season. The right-arm pacer has played an instrumental role in SRH’s success, troubling the batters with his express pace.

He recorded his best performance in the tournament in SRH’s recent encounter against PBKS, returning with the figures of 4/28. The right-arm pacer became just the fourth bowler in IPL history to bowl a maiden in the final over of an innings after Irfan Pathan, Lasith Malinga, and Jaydev Unadkat.

He was complimented well by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who also took three wickets and conceded only 23 runs.

Speaking to broadcasters at the end of the first innings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was asked how Umran's explosive pace helps him as a bowler.

In reply, Bhuvneshwar was at his hilarious best and said that more than helping it makes him a target for batters to hit as he bowls slow.

"More than helping me, it means I am a target as batters think I'm slower," Bhuvneshwar Kumar said.

Bhuvneshwar talked about his plan to dismiss Shikhar Dhawan. He said that he tried to hit hard length and find the top edge of his bat.

"There was no swing so I looked hit back of a length. That was my plan against Shikhar as I knew he would step out and look for the boundary. I looked to hit a hard length and find the top edge and luckily that's what happened, I looked to play with my field as well," he said.

SRH pacer said that he always tries to bowl to the batter’s weakness and ground dimensions. He also lauded Umran Malik for his performance.

"I try to bowl to the batter's weakness or to the ground's dimensions. The wicket and my skills are what I look at. (On Umran) But watching him bowl fast and get wickets is a joy. Hope the others going after me leads to wickets and not boundaries (smiles)," he said.

Bhuvneshwar’s and Malik’s heroics helped SRH bundle out PBKS for 151 runs. After that the likes of Abhishek Sharma (31), Rahul Tripathi (34), Aiden Markram (41*) and Nicholas Pooran (35*) contributed with the bat for their side and finished the game with 7 balls to spare.
