In the 27th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced off the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. DC won the toss and chose to bowl.

During the match, an RCB fangirl carried a poster that went viral on the internet which read, "Drove 1000 kms for you RCB!!! Eh sala cup namde".

“Eh sala cup namde” is a phrase in Kannada that means "this time around, the cup is ours". Dinesh Karthik, the star wicketkeeper batter of RCB, took to Twitter to respond to this poster.

Here’s the tweet

Glenn Maxwell hit a brilliant half-century (55 off 34 balls) but once he got out in the 12th over, the team was once again placed in an uncomfortable situation at 92/5. Dinesh Karthik walked into bat at number 7 and with the in-form batter Shahbaz Ahmed at the other end, it was once again up to them to steady the team’s ship and guide them to a respectable total.

Karthik is batting at a level most can not even dream of in the ongoing IPL. In the 14th over, he misread Kuldeep Yadav's delivery and edged it to Pant who dropped it. But after that, the 36-year-old had the upper hand over everyone, taking on Khaleel Ahmed, Mustafizur Rehman, Shardul Thakur, and Kuldeep and hitting them all over the park. In the 18th over, he smashed Mustafizur for 28 runs

Shahbaz at the other end too was very impressive. The southpaw has emerged as one of the reliable finishers in this year’s IPL. Karthik made an unbeaten 66 off 34 balls while Shahbaz scored 21-ball 32*, taking the team’s total to 189/5 in their 20 overs.

DC started off great with opener David Warner scoring a destructive 38-ball 66. But they eventually fell short of the target owing to some brilliant bowling from Josh Hazlewood (3/28) and Mohammed Siraj (2/31).

The Faf du Plessis-led side holds the third spot on the points table and will next face the Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday (April 19) at the DY Patil Stadium.
