Indian politician Shashi Tharoor on Sunday (17th April) lauded Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) pacer Umran Malik for his heroics against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Match 28 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in Mumbai.

Malik has grabbed the eyeball of many in the ongoing IPL 15 with his express pace. His ability to bowl raw pace has troubled batters in the league. The J&K pacer recorded his best performance in the tournament in SRH’s recent encounter against PBKS.

After he removed Jitesh Sharma in the 8th over, Malik was then given the responsibility to bowl the last over of the innings. The right-arm pacer created the history as he took three wickets without conceding a single run in the last over to become only the first bowler to achieve the feat.

He returned with the figures of 4/28 and his heroics even earned him the Player of the Match award. Umran drew rich praises for his performance and even impressed Congress MP Shashi Tharoor

Taking to the official Twitter account, Tharoor lavished rich praise on Malik. Calling him a ‘phenomenal talent’, the politician urged the Indian selectors to draft him into the national side and bowl him in tandem with Jasprit Bumrah on green English tracks.

“We need him in India colours asap. What a phenomenal talent. Blood him before he burns out! Take him to England for the Test match greentop. He and Bumrah bowling in tandem will terrify the Angrez! #UmranMalik,” Shashi Tharoor Tweeted.

Umran Malik’s heroics helped SRH bundle out PBKS for 151 runs and subsequently win the match. The right-arm pacer became just the fourth bowler in IPL history to bowl a maiden in the final over of an innings after Irfan Pathan, Lasith Malinga and Jaydev Unadkat.
