Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continued their impressive show in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) as they defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 16 runs at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Saturday (April 16).
Invited to bat first, RCB rode on Dinesh Karthik’s brutal 66* off 34 balls and Glenn Maxwell’s 34-ball 55 to post 189/5 in their 20 overs. Shahbaz Ahmed also played a valuable knock of 21-ball 32*.
For the Capitals, Shardul Thakur (1-27) and Akshar Patel (1-29) bowled economically and picked up one wicket each.
In reply, DC managed 173/7 in 20 overs. Opener David Warner top-scored with a brilliant knock of 38-ball 66 while captain Rishabh Pant returned with 17-ball 34 but the duo failed to take the team over the line. Apart from Warner and Pant, none of them in the Delhi batting line-up managed to touch the 20-run mark.
Josh Hazlewood starred with the ball for RCB, claiming three wickets by conceding 28 runs in his four overs. Mohammed Siraj (2-31) also finished with impressive bowling figures and took a couple of scalps.
