IPL 2022: Cricket fraternity reacts as KL Rahul’s third IPL century takes LSG to 199/4 against MI

KL Rahul remained 103*, hitting a century in his 100th IPL match | BCCI-IPLLucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul slammed his third IPL ton in their match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 16, 2022, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in the first of the double-header matches.

MI, who are looking for their first win in the IPL 2022 after five losses, chose to bowl first after winning the toss. MI went in with one change in their playing XI, bringing in Fabian Allen for Basil Thampi. LSG also made one change, as they brought in Manish Pandey for K Gowtham.

Quinton de Kock (24 in 13 balls) added 52 for the first wicket with KL Rahul, who is playing his 100th IPL match. However, he was dismissed by Fabian Allen. Then Manish Pandey joined in and score 38 in 29 balls with 6 fours before M Ashwin bowled him. The third wicket to fall for Lucknow was Marcus Stoinis for 10 runs.

But Deepak Hooda hit some lusty blows in his 15, while KL Rahul reached a sublime century, that too in his 100th IPL game, ending up with 103* in 60 balls with 5 sixes and 9 fours to his name. LSG finished on 199/4 in 20 overs.

For MI, Jaydev Unadkat picked 2/32, while Ashwin and Allen also picked one wicket apiece.

Cricket fraternity was elated as KL Rahul hit a masterful century to help LSG to a big total on the Brabourne ground, where it is hard to defend totals. He was lauded wholeheartedly on social media. Here are the tweets:
