The Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) locked horns in Match 24 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at DY Patil Stadium on Thursday (April 14).

The toss was won by RR, who chose to field first. GT, owing to flamboyant batting from their skipper Hardik Pandya who scored an unbeaten 87 off 52 balls hitting 8 boundaries and 4 sixes along the way, posted 192/4 in their 20 overs.

The chasing team started the innings on a high with their opener Jos Buttler hitting three back-to-back boundaries in the first over itself.

In the 2nd over, the talented left-arm seamer Yash Dayal got the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal. Then in a surprising turn of events, Ravichandran Ashwin came into bat at number 3 ahead of Sanju Samson. Fans were reminded of the time when Ashwin and Buttler were playing against each other in IPL  2019 when the former ran the latter out at the non-striker’s end before bowling the delivery. 

Despite the fact that the partnership was only for 28 runs, GT and RR’s supporters were overjoyed seeing the two bat together. Official pages of the franchises and fans too took to Twitter to post some hilarious memes.

Both the batters were dismissed by Lockie Ferguson. In the end, the Samson-led side fell short of the target by 37 runs. The Gujarat team is now at the top position in the points table with 4 wins in 5 matches.
