The 25th match of the IPL 2022 saw Gujarat Titans (GT) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) facing off against one another at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The match was an important one, as the winner of this encounter would have become the no.1 ranked team on the IPL 2022 points table.
Sanju Samson started on the right step by winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.
Gujarat Titans innings was the story of captain Hardik Pandya returning to his old self as he smacked 87* in 52 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Abhinav Manohar with 43 in 28 balls and David Miller with 31* in 14 balls (5 fours, 1 six) were the other main contributors as GT posted 192/4 in 20 overs.

Rajasthan Royal’s reply was not a good one as Devdutt Padikkal (0), R Ashwin (8), Sanju Samson (11) and Rassie van der Dussen (6) all failed to get going. While on the other hand, Jos Buttler made a mockery of GT bowling as he scored 54 in 24 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes to his name.
Shimron Hetmyer tried his best to bring RR back into the game from 90/5 in the 11th over, but could only make 29 in 17 balls, falling to Mohammad Shami 3 overs later. Riyan Parag tried to reduce the deficit and contributed 18 runs and Jimmy Neesham made 17.
In the end, RR could manage 155/9 in 20 overs and lost to GT by 37 runs.
Lockie Ferguson picked 3/23 for GT, while debutant Yash Dayal also picked 3 wickets and impressed one and all.
The Cricket fraternity was all praises for the GT team as they won their 4th game of the season and went to the top of the IPL 2022 points table.
