Nothing is going right for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Rohit Sharma-led side is yet to win a match and is placed at the bottom of the points table with no points to their name.
In their recent encounter against Punjab Kings (PBKS), the five-time champions gave their best though things didn’t go their way as after conceding 198 runs, they were in the game for most of the time, but the pressure got better of them in the end and they suffered their 5th straight loss by 12 runs.
Chasing the mammoth target, skipper Rohit got them off to a flyer with his fiery knock of 28 runs. But he yet again failed to convert his start and after his wicket Ishan Kishan (3) too perished soon and they found themselves tumbling at 32/2.

Dewald Brevis (49) and Tilak Varma (36) kept MI in the hunt with their exceptional knocks but could not go big. The onus was then on Suryakumar Yadav (42) and Kieron Pollard (10) to take their side home. But a mix-up between the duo saw West Indian back in the hut.
It happened during the 17th over when Pollard hit the ball towards long-on. He settled for a single, but Odean Smith mis-fielded the ball and Suryakumar sensed the opportunity and pushed his partner for another run.
The fielder then quickly collected the ball and threw it towards the wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma, who dislodged the bails as Pollard fell way short of his crease. The senior MI batter then immediately went to Suryakumar, who was disappointed and consoled him to carry on.

After the wicket of Pollard, Surykumar fell to Kagiso Rabada in the penultimate over. Odean Smith then closed the game for his side by defending 22 runs in the final over.
