Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer on Wednesday (13th April) lashed out at Mumbai Indians (MI) for not showing faith in Tim David. He believes that the Singapore born all-rounder is good enough to play more than two games for the franchise.

MI acquired the services of Tim David for INR 8.25 crores in the IPL 2022 auction. The all-rounder has so far featured in the franchise’s opening two games against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) respectively. He failed to set the stage on fire as he managed only 12 and 1 in the two innings.

After his two poor outings, David was dropped from the team as MI gave chance to young Dewald Brevis. The Rohit Sharma-led side after that in a game against RCB opted for only two overseas players in the side.

David yet again didn’t feature in MI’s playing XI against PBKS as the team went in with only three overseas players. The all-rounder’s omission from the playing XI didn’t go well with Ranji Trophy legend Wasim Jaffer.

Taking to his Twitter account, Jaffer said that he was surprised with MI not showing faith in David as he’s good enough to play more than a couple of games.

"When you've bought someone for 8.25cr, surely he's good enough to play more than a couple of games. Really surprised to see MI not showing faith in Tim David. #MIvPBKS #IPL2022,”  Wasim Jaffer tweeted.

Coming to the match against PBKS, MI suffered their fifth consecutive loss of the season. Chasing the mammoth target of 199 runs, the Rohit Sharma-led side fought tooth and nail but in the end, the pressure got better off them as they fell 12 runs short of the target.
