When it comes to all-rounders, Shardul Thakur believes that every team should have as many multi-skilled players as possible since they provide extra cushioning if specialists fail in one area.

The Delhi capitals have an incredible line-up of all-rounders, including the likes of Mitchell Marsh, Akshar Patel, Lalit Yadav, Mandeep Singh, and Thakur himself.

Thakur said in a DC media release, "If we lose quick wickets at the top, then the role of the players batting at 6,7 & 8 becomes important"

Shardul said that his intention is to create an impact in every match he plays. “The environment within the team is quite good. There are a lot of youngsters in the team and we are all friends as we've been playing together for some time. I like to make an impact in every match I play and that's why I play with a lot of energy," he said.

DC holds the sixth position in the points table, having won 2 out of 4 matches. Thakur also admitted that the head coach of the Delhi franchise, Ricky Ponting backing helps players bring their best to the table, "The team is moving in the right direction and our head coach Ricky Ponting has always told us to play our natural game no matter what the situation is. He backs us so we always try to give our best" he was quoted saying.

‘Palgarh Express’ has been impressive with both bat and ball in the ongoing IPL. He was pivotal in his team’s triumph over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He scored an 11 ball 27 striking 3 sixes and a four and pushing the team’s total to 215/5 in 20 overs. With the bowl, he took 2 wickets, one of which was Andre Russel while conceding 30 in 2.4 overs.

He further said that he looks to enjoy the game and not put himself under any kind of pressure.

"I look to enjoy playing cricket. I have worked hard to reach this stage so I don't want to put myself under any kind of pressure. Even when the crowd cheers for our opponents in the stadium, I look to enjoy those situations."
