Many Indian legends like Suresh Raina, Amit Mishra, and Ishant Sharma went unsold at the IPL 2022 mega-auction held earlier this year. Among the overseas players, many big names like Aaron Finch and Steve Smith could not find a buyer. One of the biggest surprises among the pool of overseas players who were left out was Eoin Morgan, who led his team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to the finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
While Morgan's captaincy was praised by many, his inability to score runs may have worked against him as no side expressed interest in him.
On being asked about this, Morgan said he was not concerned about missing out on the IPL 2022, admitting that it was a win-win situation for him.
"[I looked at the IPL] as a win-win, to be honest. Being there at the biggest tournament in the world is an experience that I've used to my advantage over the years and I've had some great memories and experiences along the way. But looking to the rest of the year for us, once I start playing again, it doesn't stop until after the World Cup. I've had a lovely period at home: good family time," he told ESPNCricinfo.

Eoin Morgan had a terrible IPL season last year, scoring only 133 runs in 17 games at an average of just over 11. KKR neither retained him nor picked him again at the mega-auction.
The Kolkata team management instead picked Shreyas Iyer for a whopping 12.25 crores and named him as the new skipper of the two-time champion side.
KKR hold the second spot on the points table, having won 3 out of their 5 matches. They are all set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday (April 15) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
