Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Trent Boult lavished rich praise on his teammate and IPL debutant Kuldeep Sen for successfully defending 15 runs in the last over as RR beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 3 runs in the 20th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 on Sunday (April 10) at Wankhede Stadium.

Boult had himself given a great start to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by dismissing KL Rahul and Krishnappa Gowtham for golden ducks in the first over of the Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) innings.

Batting first, Shimron Hetmyer's unbeaten knock of 59 helped RR post 165 on the board against LSG. Yuzvendra Chahal took four wickets, while Kuldeep successfully defended 15 runs in the final over to give the RR a three-run victory.

Kuldeep returned with figures of 1/35 in his four overs against LSG.

Boult said in a post-match presentation: “My role with the new ball is to take as many wickets as possible. It's a pretty simple game for me at the top and get it to swing. The humidity and the overheads assisted it.”

Praising Kuldeep Sen, Boult said: “Limited English from Kuldeep, he runs in hard though. He executed it well in the end and he is only going to get better. Some quality fast bowling on our side and in the tournament going around. I'll probably watch my batting before my bowling (laughs).”

In the last over, Sanju Samson led Rajasthan needed to defend 15 runs and youngster Kuldeep Sen held his nerves against big-hitting Marcus Stoinis to take the team to the third win in four matches and go to the top of the points table.

Notably, RR will next face Gujarat Titans in their next IPL 15 match on April 14.
