Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) thrashed the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 7 wickets in the 18th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 on Saturday, April 9, to record its third straight win in the tournament.

With the dominating win over the Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have jumped to the third spot on the IPL 2022 points table with 6 points, while MI is still winless and languishing in ninth place after losing four consecutive defeats in the lucrative T20 league.

After winning the toss, the RCB decided to bowl first, and the pacer Harshal Patel gave the team an early breakthrough by dismissing the MI captain, Rohit Sharma (26) in the 7th over. Well, Suryakumar Yadav (68*) managed to score a brilliant fifty to take MI to 151/6 in the 20 overs against the RCB.

Chasing the total, Anuj Rawat smashed 66 runs off 47 balls while Virat Kohli played a classy knock of 48 as they chased down the target of 152 with nine balls left and 7 wickets in hand.

After the win, the RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis, was elated and said that they were feeling really great after crushing the strong MI team.

Faf du Plessis said at the post-match presentation: “Really good (how it feels). Mumbai is a strong team. Bowling tonight was really good. Probably for 18 overs excellent batting, was some quality batting at the end there. Very happy standing here. Would've bitten your arm off surely (target of 152).”

He added, “There was something in it for the bowlers with the new ball. Rohit played some good shots, a very valuable wicket to get him out. Akash Deep was very good. Hold that back of a length with the seam standing up, there was something there. Brilliant bowling performance.”

The skipper signed off by saying, “I spoke about him before at the start of the tournament (Anuj Rawat). The potential that he has. Lots of conversations between the two of us.”
