Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Glenn Maxwell put on a fielding exhibition in his first outing of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against Mumbai Indians (MI).

During the 10th over of MI’s innings, Maxwell made a fantastic effort to throw a brilliant direct hit to dismiss in-form batter Tilak Varma at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Saturday (April 9).

It was a poor call from Varma as he tapped the ball in front of short cover and rushed for a quick single. Maxwell ran in, swooped, and fired an under-arm throw to hit the stumps while he had only one pole to aim at.

His direct hit helped RCB claim the fourth wicket as Varma fell for a three-ball duck and MI were reduced to 62/4 after being asked to bat first.

Riding on Suryakumar Yadav's 37-ball 68, Mumbai Indians eventually posted 151/6 in their 20 overs.
