Yuzvendra Chahal is known for his exploits in the Indian Premier League (IPL) mainly for his time in the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He picked 139 wickets in more than 110 matches for the red army from 2014-2021.
But many do not know that he was first picked in the IPL by the Mumbai Indians in 2011 and shared the dressing room with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ricky Ponting, and Sachin Tendulkar there. He played only one IPL game, but all matches of the 2011 Champions League T20 tournament.
Now playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) after being bought by the Sanju Samson-led team in the IPL 2022 auction, he has done extremely well and has formed a lethal partnership with R Ashwin.
Meanwhile, in a video shared by RR on their official social media accounts, Yuzvendra Chahal, along with Karun Nair appeared on the show RR basecamp, hosted by R Ashwin.
The trio shared stories from their lives that scared them and made them fear for their lives and changed them forever.
Chahal recalled a story from his Mumbai Indians days, saying that at an after-match party in Bengaluru in 2013, a player of the MI unit got a little too drunk and got hold of him.
The young leg-spinner then shared scary details that the said player took him outside to the balcony and hung him over the safety railings.
Chahal revealed that this was happening on the 15th floor of the hotel and had the player dropped him or if he had lost his grip which was on that player’s neck, it would have been fatal for him.
He continued by saying that fortunately people came to his rescue and got him back safely. Chahal revealed that he kind of fainted and was given water while he came to his senses.
He then realized how responsible people need to be when they go anywhere. Chahal said that he felt that this was a narrow escape for him, as had the drunk player made a mistake, he would have fallen down 15 floors.
Here is the video of Chahal recalling that horrifying incident (forward to 2:50 minute mark):
