Manoj Tiwary has had a very good Indian Premier League (IPL) career appearing for sides such as Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rising Pune Supergiants, and Punjab Kings.
Tiwary had joined Mamata Banerjee's All India Trinamool Congress party in February 2021 and was appointed as a minister of state for the Affairs of Sports and Youth.
Tiwary has been outspoken about the treatment he has been meted out in both the Indian team and IPL. He played 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is for India, scoring one century against West Indies in ODIs, and has the best bowling figures of 4/61 against the same opponents.

He last played for India in 2015 against Zimbabwe in an ODI and since then, has been overlooked for selection. He last played in the cash-rich T20 tournament in IPL 2018, after which he was not picked in the auctions. He had still put his name in the IPL 2022 mega auction with a base price of INR 50 lakhs but went unsold.
In all, he played in 98 IPL matches, scoring 1695 runs with seven fifties to his name and the best score of 75*. He hit 156 fours and 40 sixes.
However, during the 12th match of the IPL 2022 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Manoj Tiwary put out a tweet reminding everyone that he was still available if any of the teams needed him.
