Australia batter Glenn Maxwell will be available for selection for the Royals Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their IPL match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 9, the team's head coach Mike Hesson confirmed.
Even though Maxwell has joined the RCB camp and served his mandatory quarantine period, he won’t be able to take part in RCB’s clash against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday (April 5) owing to a clause laid down by Cricket Australia for its contracted players.
While Maxwell doesn’t feature in the Australian team for the Pakistan tour, due to conclude on April 5 with the one-off T20I, he needs to wait until April 6 to make his first appearance for RCB.
"It's pretty clear from Cricket Australia's point of view that no contracted players are available before the 6th of April. So, regardless of when they arrive here, they can't play before the 6th of April," Hesson said in a video shared on RCB's official Twitter page.
"We have been well aware of that as every other side. We have planned for that. Maxi (Maxwell) will be with us and available from the 9th."
Royals Challengers Bangalore have played two games in the IPL 2022 season so far. While the Faf du Plessis-led side has suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of PBKS, they have beaten KKR by three wickets.
