Gujarat Titans (GT) vice-captain Rashid Khan was all praises for captain Hardik Pandya and fast bowler Lockie Ferguson’s handy work with the ball, which helped the franchise beat Delhi Capitals (DC) the other night in their IPL 2022 encounter.
Shubman Gill's 84-run knock and Lockie Ferguson's four-wicket haul guided Gujarat Titans to a 14-run win against Delhi Capitals here at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
Rashid Khan praised the bowling efforts of Hardik Pandya, who took 1/22 in his four overs, opening the bowling with Mohammad Shami (2/30). However, it was Lockie Ferguson who rattled the DC batting with 4/28.
IPL 2022: “Could’ve batted well in the middle overs”: DC captain Rishabh Pant on loss to GT
"Our fast bowlers have done well and have taken victory, which is the big thing. The wicket was not easy but the bowling done by Lockie and Hardik gave us a base and momentum to win the match. It's a different feeling when you come to a new team from the one you played for five years. Now you have to show your skills in the new team too. So far thankfully, everything is going well and we should bowl well in the next matches as well," Rashid Khan told Shubman Gill in a video posted on the IPL website.
Shubman Gill was named the Player of the Match for his knock of 84, in which he hit 6 fours and 4 sixes in just 46 balls. DC, on the other hand, managed just 157/9 with skipper Rishabh Pant top-scoring with 43.
"The mindset was that when we saw the wicket, it was a bit grumpy, but in the mindset, it was that good shots would be played in the beginning. So after that, as soon as we get to set, it will be a little easier for the spinners to play as there will not be so much turn on the green wicket," said Shubman Gill.
The GT team will now battle with PBKS on April 8, while DC will now face LSG on April 7.
