IPL 2022: Cricket fraternity lauds Umesh Yadav as his stunning spell helps KKR bowl out PBKS for 137

Umesh Yadav returned with the outstanding figures of 4 for 23 in his four overs.

Umesh Yadav ran through the KKR batting line-up | BCCI/IPLUmesh Yadav put on a show with the ball in Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (April 1).

Opting to bowl first, KKR dominated PBKS from the very first over as Umesh dismissed skipper Mayank Agarwal for 1.

Shikhar Dhawan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa steadied the ship by adding 41 runs for the second but once the partnership was broken, Punjab’s batting line-up fell like a pack of cards.

The Mohali-based franchise collapsed from 43/2 to 84/5 and further slipped to 102/8 as Umesh and other KKR bowlers continued their brilliance.

While Umesh Yadav got the wickets of Liam Livingstone (19), Harpreet Brar (14), and Rahul Chahar (0) to finish with the outstanding figures of 4 for 23 in his four overs, Tim Southee returned with impressive figures of 2-36 in his four-over quota.

Shivam Mavi, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell also chipped in with wicket apiece as KKR bowled out PBKS for 137 in 18.2 overs. It was a listless batting performance from the Punjab Kings. None of the batters managed to hit a half-century and Rajapaksa was the top scorer with 31 while Kagiso Rabada chipped in with a handy 16-ball 25 at the fag end.

For this sensational spell, Umesh Yadav received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
