The second week of the IPL 2022 season will most probably see increased spectator attendance in the four stadiums across Maharashtra, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to allow 50% crowd.

"BCCI is planning to allow 50 per cent capacity of audience in IPL from next week and has got clearance from all departments," ANI quoted sources as saying.

Currently, only 25% of crowd capacity is being permitted inside the stadiums during the first week of the competition.

The entire IPL 2020 season was played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as was the second leg of the 2021 season. After 25 matches were played in India in 2021, the BCCI halted the 14th edition of the tournament due to the second wave of the pandemic, but it was later resumed in the UAE in October-November of the same year.

The Board had previously announced that the league would be played in India this year, as well as that two teams would be added to the mix, resulting in a total of ten teams competing against each other, much to the delight of fans.

The Maharashtra government has lifted the Covid restrictions, so it is expected that many more people will be able to attend the match at the stadium.

To minimize travel, the board decided to host all the matches of the 2022 league at four stadiums in Maharashtra. The venues are Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, and MCA (Maharashtra Cricket Association) Stadium in Pune.
