Former Indian spinner and now commentator Harbhajan Singh has opened up on what makes the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise different from the rest of the franchisees in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 'Turbanator' played for the Mumbai Indians for the longest time from 2008–2017, and then joined the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2018 season of the IPL, staying with the franchise till the IPL 2020. He was also part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the last IPL season in 2021.

He played for the Chennai-based franchise for three seasons, and the former cricketer revealed that it is one of the only teams that takes care of the expenses of all the family members travelling with the players and the team. He revealed that players have to pay for their families in other teams.

Harbhajan Singh told Sportskeeda: “I observed a new culture when I joined CSK. Over there, the franchise takes care of the tickets, travel, stay, food and everything for the player’s family.”

He further added, “Not just for one person, but even if 10 people from your family want to come, the franchise is ready to bear the expenses in that case too. The other teams don’t do that. In other teams, even if you have your partner with you, then you would have to pay for her.”

Notably, Harbhajan Singh played 163 IPL matches and managed 150 wickets at an economy rate of 7. He also amassed 833 runs with the highest score of 64 in the IPL.
