Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ravindra Jadeja expressed his disappointment after the defending champions suffered a 6-wicket defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 7th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Brabourne Stadium on March 31, 2022.

Chennai Super Kings batters Robin Uthappa (50), Moeen Ali (35), and Shivam Dube (49) batted brilliantly and helped the side post 210/7 in 20 overs against the Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday.

However, CSK failed to make any mark with the ball, with Dwaine Pretorius only taking two wickets, as LSG won by 6 wickets with three balls to spare to record their first win in the IPL 2022.

Jadeja said in the post-match presentation: “We had a very good start, Robbie and Shivam Dube were playing brilliantly. We had a good start, but in the fielding, we have to take catches then you'll win matches. We should have taken those chances. There was a lot of dew, the ball wasn't sticking to the hand.”

He added, Next time, we have to practice with the wet ball. We batted brilliantly in the top-six and in the middle-overs. The wicket was very good to bat on. As a bowling unit, we need to execute our plans.”

Notably, Ayush Badoni has been a real find for the LSG, as the young batter smashed a maiden IPL fifty in the first match against Gujarat Titans, and again he shone with the bat against the CSK, scoring an unbeaten 19* from 9 balls to guide his team to a six-wicket win.
