West Indies legend Chris Gayle had not registered his name for the IPL 2022 mega-auction and he is not being seen in action in the ongoing cash-rich league.
Gayle is currently on a break and he seems to be missing the T20 tournament. The southpaw recently took to social media to announce that he has started preparations for IPL 2023.
The 42-year-old uploaded some pictures from his workout session on Instagram story, expressing his interest to feature in the IPL next year.
Gayle was part of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the last season and he had pulled out in the middle of the IPL 2021. The southpaw had expressed his desire to mentally refresh himself in Dubai before representing the West Indies in the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Apart from Punjab, Gayle played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL. His power-hitting and explosive batting as an opener made him popular among the fans.
Widely regarded as one of the best T20 players of all time, Chris Gayle appeared in a total of 142 IPL games, amassing 4965 runs at a strike rate of 148.96 with 6 hundreds and 31 half-centuries.
