Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson hailed his team’s clinical performance after they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 61 runs in their opening match of the ongoing IPL 2022 on March 29.

Coming to bat first, Samson led Rajasthan Royals (RR) from the front by scoring 55 runs off just 27 balls to take his team's total to 210/6 in 20 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday in Pune.

The RR bowlers wreaked havoc on SRH batters as Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult each snared two wickets while Yuzvendra Chahal scalped three wickets to restrict the SRH team to 149/7 and win the IPL 15 match by 61 runs in Pune on Tuesday.

After the entertaining contest, Samson lauded RR for outplaying SRH in all three departments and admitted that they executed their plan to perfection in their first match of the ongoing IPL 2022.

Sanju Samson said in the post-match presentation: “It was a very different wicket than what we thought. If you bowled Test match lengths, the wicket was helping fast bowlers.”

He continued, “No long-term goals, just want to win as much as possible and contribute to team's victory. Working on my fitness, game awareness, understanding of conditions, and choosing my scoring options. Not rushing. I would like to spend a lot of time in the middle knowing I can catch up anytime.”

The skipper signed off by saying, “Yes, I had some say. Having a leader like Sanga (Kumar Sangakkara), gave me a final option. Luckily everyone, a lot of cricketing brains have worked together to get a good squad. I think every season we come with great dreams, it's a franchise that takes good care of us. Our owners trust us, give us space. One game at a time.”

Notably, RR will next take on Mumbai Indians (MI) in their next IPL 15 match on April 2.
