Twitterati on Sunday (27th March) poked fun at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and their fans after Faf du Plessis played a wonderful knock in his first match for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Du Plessis’s stint with RCB started on a high with the bat. Although his side didn’t win, the right-hander played a sensational knock against Punjab Kings in Mumbai.

Opening the batting, the RCB skipper struggled with his timing up front but he made sure that he didn’t let the pressure get better off him. After finding his mojo back, the Proteas batter took the PBKS bowlers to the cleaners.

He scored a half-century on his debut for RCB and continued his carnage on bowlers to end up with a score of 88 runs in 57 balls after being on 23 from 34 balls at one stage. His knock was laced with 3 fours and 7 maximums.

Du Plessis along with Virat Kohli (41*) and Dinesh Karthik (32*) helped RCB post a mammoth total of 205 runs on the board, which PBKS chased in 19 overs.

As Du Plessis smashed half-century on his RCB debut, fans on Twitter took a jibe at CSK for not retaining him. Notably, the South African was part of the ‘Yellow Army’ for almost a decade and played a vital role in the team’s success.
