India’s pace sensation Prasidh Krishna and talented batter Devdutt Padikkal are all set to represent their new franchise, Rajasthan Royals (RR), in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2022).
While Krishna played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Padikkal was with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the last edition of IPL in 2021. Before the start of the IPL 2022 on March 26, Padikkal and Krishna opened up about how Rajasthan Royals (RR) made them feel at home on the side.
Padikkal said in a statement: “Coming to a new franchise, I was a little bit nervous but everyone's made me feel at home straight away, and I couldn't have asked for anything better.”
Meanwhile, Krishna noted, “Rajasthan Royals have always been a very proud franchise. I've heard great things from a lot of people who've been associated with the franchise. It's been a good start here and I'm really looking forward to the coming two months with the team.”
Before joining the RR camp, Krishna and Padikkal both had good outings for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22. RR will open its IPL 15 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 29.
Padikkal, who amassed 260 runs in the Ranji Trophy 2021-22, said of his IPL 15 preparation: “We've had a good run in domestic cricket. It was good to get some runs and contribute to the team.”
He concluded, “Moving from Ranji to IPL is a challenge for sure, it's about switching that mentality from red-ball cricket to white-ball cricket, and making those small adjustments needed to get going.”
Notably, there are so many players from Karnataka in the RR side, and Prasidh said it is really helpful for him and he is confident of doing well in the upcoming IPL 2022.
Krishna signed off by saying, “We've got a great bunch, and obviously knowing guys like Devdutt, KC, and Karun Nair helps to settle into a new team. Ever since we were picked up by the Royals, we've been eagerly waiting to have a great time with the franchise, and there's a strong belief we can do well.”
