IPL 2022: Star Sports confirms Ravi Shastri and Suresh Raina joining commentary box for IPL 15

The official broadcasters of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Star Sports have confirmed that former India captain and head coach Ravi Shastri and former India and Chennai Super Kings batter Suresh Raina will join the commentary panel for the IPL 2022 edition.

The IPL 2022 edition begins from March 26 and the 70 league matches are slated to be played across four venues in Maharashtra, while the venues for the four playoff matches is yet to be decided. Two new teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants will join the eight established franchises to make the IPL a ten-team event after a decade.

Meanwhile, the official broadcasters Star Sports confirmed that Ravi Shastri will be returning to the commentary box after 5 years away from the mic and will do the duties in the IPL 2022. Shastri was the Indian team head coach from 2017-2021 and hence couldn’t commentate in matches.

On the other hand, Suresh Raina, who retired from international cricket in 2020, went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega auction after he was released by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after the IPL 2021 edition.

It remains to be seen which language the two Indian cricketers will be commentating in, but reports had suggested that Shastri was roped in to do the work in Hindi, while Raina was to commentate in English.
