IPL 2022: WATCH – Aakash Chopra weighs in on Delhi Capitals’ chances of winning the upcoming IPL

Delhi Capitals will open their IPL 2022 campaign against Mumbai Indians on March 27.

Rishabh Pant will lead Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 season | BCCI/IPLDelhi Capitals (DC) will open their IPL 2022 campaign against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Brabourne Stadium on March 27.

During the mega-auction last month, DC roped in some prominent names like David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Shardul Thakur, Rovman Powell, Mustafizur Rahman, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Rishabh Pant will continue to lead the franchise, which had retained him ahead of the auction along with three other players – Anrich Nortje, Akshar Patel, and Prithvi Shaw.

While a lot of fans and experts are tipping DC as favorites to win the IPL 2022 title, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra won't be surprised if Pant and company fail to enter the playoffs this time around.

"I am slightly worried about this team. They can easily lose two of the first three matches. If they lose three out of three, there is a possibility, you can't say. Someone might win you a match with a one-man show but as a team, this does not give you a lot of confidence," Chopra said in a video on his Youtube channel.

According to Aakash Chopra, Rovman Powell is an ‘unknown commodity’ in the middle order while players such as KS Bharat and Sarfaraz Khan are yet to make a mark in the shortest format.

Aakash further pointed out that wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav hasn't had a great IPL for a long time whereas left-arm pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Chetan Sakariya are not proven match-winners.

"I will not be surprised if this team does not make it to the playoffs. I feel there is a possibility that this team doesn't qualify because they are going with potential, the performances are just okay, they have availability issues. If they start slowly, you never know which way they will head," he added.
