IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals’ team bus parked outside hotel damaged by MNS activists, says report

The Mumbai Police has reportedly detained at least three activists.

MNS activists damaged Delhi Capitals' team bus | TwitterActivists of Maharashtra’s political party Navnirman Sena on Tuesday (March 15) smashed the windows of Delhi Capitals’ (DC) luxury bus parked outside a five-star hotel to ferry players for the upcoming IPL 2022 season.

According to a report published in IANS, nearly half-a-dozen activists of the MNS-Vahatuk Sena (Transport Wing) sneaked near the bus before midnight, pasted posters of their demands on the front of the bus, raised slogans and started smashing the windows.

Speaking to IANS, an activist named Sanjay Naik said that they were protesting because buses from outside the state were hired, depriving the locals of employment opportunities.

“Despite our protests, they have allowed several buses and other smaller vehicles here from Delhi and other parts, which is affecting the livelihood of the local people," Naik said.

As per the report, the police reached the spot to prevent damage to more buses and detained at least three activists early on Wednesday (March 16).

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to get underway on March 26 with the clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

A total of 70 league matches will be played across four international standard venues in Mumbai and Pune. The venue for the playoff matches will be decided later.

Wankhede Stadium will host 20 matches while 15 matches will be played at Brabourne Stadium (CCI). DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai will host 20 matches while Pune's MCA International Stadium will conduct 15 matches.
