Chennai Super Kings (CSK) enjoy extreme popularity not just in Chennai or Tamil Nadu, as their supporters exist in almost every part of the country and this was evident when fans in Surat accorded them a warm welcome as they traveled to the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium for their training session as part of a camp ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Several fans were seen waving towards the CSK team bus as the franchise has chosen Surat as the venue to train for the upcoming IPL edition. They are infact the only team to have officially started training as a group with the other nine teams expected to do so in the coming days.
One of the reasons that CSK enjoys so much popularity across India is its captain, MS Dhoni, who has been a crowd favourite and a national icon having led the country to all the major white-ball titles as well as has been regarded as one of the greatest wicketkeeper-batters of all-time.

Dhoni, now only plays IPL cricket, and he is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the franchise maintains the legacy that they have created over the years, having won the IPL title four times, including in 2021.
He was seen batting and chatting to bowling coach L Balaji in the video clip shared by CSK on Instagram. Rajvardhan Hangargekar, KM Asif and Ambati Rayudu could also be seen at the nets in the clip.
Chennai Super Kings will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening match of the season on March 26 in Mumbai. The whole league stage will be hosted across four venues by Maharashtra, with three venues in Mumbai and one in Pune.
