England opener Jason Roy has cited bubble fatigue for his reason of pulling out of the upcoming IPL 2022 edition in which he was supposed to play for Gujarat Titans (GT), one of the two new franchises of the 10-team tournament.
Roy was signed by Gujarat Titans for his base price of INR 2 crore (USD 266,000) at the auction, had reportedly informed the franchise of his decision last week. The right-hander played in the PSL 2022 recently, scoring 303 runs at an average of 50.50 and a strike rate of 170.22, scoring two fifties and a hundred.
This is the second time Roy has decided not to play the IPL after finding a team at the auction. In 2020, Delhi Capitals picked up Roy for his then base price of INR 1.5 crore, but he opted out for personal reasons.

Jason Roy was blessed with a baby in January this year, his second child, and for him to play in the IPL 2022, would have meant staying away from the family for over two months as the IPL 2022 will start of March 26 and the final is scheduled for May 29.
Titans would have been the fourth franchise Roy would have played for in the IPL, having earlier represented Gujarat Lions (2017), Delhi Daredevils (2018), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (2021). He was drafted in by SRH in IPL 2021 for injured Mitchell Marsh, after going unsold in the auction.
Roy took to Instagram to post a message in which he apologized to the GT fans and reasoned why he is pulling out of IPL 2022.
