Royal Challengers Bangalore are yet to name a captain for the IPL 2022 edition.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) went into the IPL 2022 auction having retained only three players in Virat Kohli, who quit the captaincy before the IPL 2021, Glenn Maxwell and fast bowler Mohammed Siraj.

In the auction, the RCB table splurged quite huge sums of money on the likes of Josh Hazlewood, broke the bank with INR 10.75 crores on Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, and also got South Africa’s Faf du Plessis to replace AB de Villiers, who announced his retirement from cricket.

Apart from them, RCB also bought Sherfane Rutherford and David Willey to bolster their foreign contingent.

In addition to that, the franchise filled their slots with terrific Indian talents like Dinesh Karthik, Shahbaz Ahmed, Anuj Rawat, Mahipal Lomror, Siddharth Kaul, and paid INR 10.75 crores to buy back Harshal Patel, who picked 32 wickets in IPL 2021 for them.

Though the franchise is yet to name a captain for the upcoming IPL 2022, it's going to be either Du Plessis or Glenn Maxwell, given that both have guaranteed spots in the RCB playing XI.

The no.3 spot might be taken by Anuj Rawat, the young Indian talent, or go for foreign talent like Finn Allen at the top, who can also keep wickets. The middle-order is expected to be consisting of Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik with either Sherfane Rutherford or Mahipal Lomror taking up the finishing duties.

David Willey and Wanindu Hasaranga might also be considered for one of the four overseas players’ spots in the RCB XI, while Shahbaz Ahmed can be the second spinner besides Hasaranga and Lomror.
